Naxos Tops the List of Greek Destinations for Kitesurfing!

For 2025, the French travel website generationvoyage.fr recommends Greece as the ideal destination for kitesurfing enthusiasts. “Many French travelers typically choose Greek islands for their beaches and moments of relaxation, rather than for sports activities. However, it’s time to break this myth, as the Greek seas offer fantastic spots for kitesurfing. The Aegean winds are particularly strong in summer, especially in the afternoons, creating ideal conditions for these sports. Kitesurfers can discover a sunny paradise with the wind as their reliable ‘ally,’” the feature begins.

The popular site, catering to millions of young French travelers, then highlights six ideal Greek islands across the Cyclades, Ionian, and Dodecanese, with Naxos at the top of the list. According to generationvoyage.fr:

“Naxos is globally recognized as one of the best Greek islands for kitesurfing. Much of the island’s western coast offers ideal conditions that sport enthusiasts eagerly seize. The most famous beach for kitesurfing and windsurfing is Mikri Vigla, renowned for its unique weather conditions. Laguna, Agios Georgios, and Plaka beaches are also excellent choices. Summer is the perfect season for water sports on the island, as the wind blows strongly every day from midday until late afternoon. This provides a great opportunity to combine morning visits to Naxos’ many cultural and historical sites with kitesurfing later in the day.”

Interest in Naxos continues to grow, as the Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades emphasizes promotion in key international markets, focusing on experiences such as water tourism, outdoor activities, history, culture, and gastronomy.
