The award ceremony of Europa Nostra Awards for Cultural Heritage, which the Municipality of Naxos and Small Cyclades attended, was a unique opportunity to promote globally the culture of Naxos. More specifically, independent scientific authorities examined 160 proposals by 31 countries in Europe. 29 destinations in 17 countries were nominated and received an award, out of which 2 projects in Greece won an award in the field of restoration. An online voting by citizens from all over Europe followed, in order to vote for the big winners at the GRAND-PRIX, which resulted in Agia Kyriaki Apeiranthou in Naxos receiving the 1st Prize of Cultural Heritage!
